Four-star UNC basketball target London Johnson continues adding offers to his robust list of schools.

The North Carolina Tar Heels officially got involved in the London Johnson recruitment two weeks ago when first-year head coach Hubert Davis extended a scholarship offer to the four-star class of 2023 prospect out of Norcross, Georgia.

The Tar Heels are among a list of schools that includes Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida, Houston, Indiana, Memphis, NC State, Tennessee and Xavier. He’s got nearly two-dozen offers in total, and with so much time left in his recruitment, that number is likely to increase. And although Duke, Kansas and Kentucky are not yet involved, it wouldn’t be shocking to see some or all of them jump in at some point.

The growing amount of attention that Johnson is getting from coaches and scouts reflects his ascent in the 247Sports Composite — a ranking system that takes into account the rankings of a number of the top recruiting outlets. Johnson was ranked just 76th in mid-July, but he’s up to No. 35 now and approaching five-star status. In fact, he’s already a five-star player according to Rivals, who has the rising Norcross point guard ranked 17th overall in the 2023 class.

247Sports recruiting analyst Brandon Jenkins evaluated Johnson this past summer, and had the following to say of his budding game and skill set:

"“A lengthy and talented point guard prospect with a slight frame, Johnson is a high-floored prospect who is intriguing due to his long-term tools. He owns a solid skillset scoring the basketball from each level of the floor when the option is there. He plays with an even keel at all times as he is very cerebral and displays great feel as a passer. What makes Johnson so intriguing is the upside he has left to discover. His body still has yet to fully mature but he has the early intangibles and skill set that makes it hard for high coaches not to bank on. There are not many guards in the class that possess Johnson’s level of upside as he has a bright future as a lead guard at the high major level if he continues to develop.”"

Johnson has already visited a number of his prospective schools, though North Carolina is not one of them. The Tar Heels, who are yet to earn a commitment in the class of 2023, are hoping to play host to Johnson on their Chapel Hill campus at some point in the near future.
