John Copenhaver

You’re probably wondering “Where’s Ty Chandler and Josh Downs on this list?!” Well, those guys had great performances, but we figured, let’s get some new faces on the list this week!

Who better than John Copenhaver, the redshirt freshman from Roswell, Georgia? Coming into the Miami game, Copenhaver had just one reception for a total of seven yards. He matched his reception total in this game, but earned a new accomplishment along the way.

For the first time in his collegiate career, Copenhaver found the end zone. Early in the second quarter, Howell connected with the redshirt freshman for a two-yard score.

The Tar Heels have utilized multiple tight ends this season, but Copenhaver hasn’t really gotten involved in the passing game just yet. Who knows, maybe this will be the start of what could be the development of another capable target for Howell to work with in North Carolina’s offense.

After that extremely nerve-wrecking nail-biter, I think we all deserve a bit of a break! Luckily, the UNC football program now goes into a bye week, so they won’t be in action until October 30th against Notre Dame.
