UNC Basketball: Elite five-star recruit sets visit to Chapel Hill

The UNC Basketball season begins in just under a month but this week’s “Late Night With Hubert Davis” event is the unofficial start to the season. And as has been the case in previous years it’s also a big recruiting event for the program.

With just a few days away until the annual event, we now have our first confirmation on an official visitor for the event.

Per 247 Sports, five-star forward G.G. Jackson is set to be in attendance for the event, taking his official visit to North Carolina this weekend.

The 6-foot-8, 210-pound Jackson is a Columbia, South Carolina native that is ranked as a five-star recruit in the 2023 class. He’s ranked No. 10 overall, the No. 3 power forward and No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina per the 247Sports rankings.

In his recruitment, Jackson has a total of 13 offers including from UNC, South Carolina, Duke, and Clemson among others. This could shape up to be a battle of the Carolina’s with the Tar Heels, Blue Devils and Gamecocks the reported favorites. All three teams have also visit Jackson recently, showing their interest for the talented recruit.

However, this will be a big opportunity for UNC to impress as they will get him on campus for an official visit this Fall.

The Tar Heels have made Jackson a priority here in the 2023 class as he’s one of the eight players that currently has an offer. In the past few weeks, UNC has been in to visit Jackson and has stayed in touch with the power forward. Ideally, Davis and his staff would love to pair Jackson with another big five-star player to start off their 2023 class, the second under the head coach.
