Cedric Gray

Let’s start off with a newcomer to the helmet sticker list during the 2021 season.

In a contest in which the Tar Heels’ defense definitely had their struggles, Gray put up his best statistical performance so far in his young Tar Heel career. The sophomore registered career-highs in tackles (11) and solo tackles (5), and was a consistent force on the defense side of the ball for Mack Brown’s team.

To put things into perspective: Gray essentially doubled his season production in this game. Prior to Saturday’s contest, the Charlotte, North Carolina native had just 14 total tackles, so you will definitely see an impressive jump in his stat line after this game.

Let’s face it: the Tar Heels’ defense could definitely use some help, especially in regards to tackling. Maybe Gray will step up and be a key contributor down the stretch this season.
