The UNC basketball program is receiving a visit from a big five-star target in the 2023 class this weekend as Simeon Wilcher is set to be in Chapel Hill. But he’s not the only prospect in the class with an interest to visit.

Hubert Davis and his staff have identified five-star forward G.G. Jackson as a priority recruit in the 2023 cycle. The South Carolina native is an elite prospect that has a few big schools after him already.

And now it appears as if Jackson is starting to think about visits to campuses this Fall.

According to Clint Jackson of Bull City Hoops, the talented five-star recruit is in the process of setting up visits to Tobacco Road to see both UNC and Duke:

The good news here is that Jackson is interested in UNC to the point where he wants to take a visit before his recruitment is over. The bad news? Well, Duke appears to be more involved than many thought they would be.

Head-coach-in-waiting Jon Scheyer and staff were in Columbia to watch Jackson last week and the Blue Devils are amping up the pursuit. UNC also sent a coach to visit Jackson and watch him at an open gym, as they have maintained contact with him over the past few months now.

It’s no secret that Davis and his staff really want to land Jackson and pair him with another big five-star recruit and potentially more in this 2023 class. With Davis having a top five class for the 2022 cycle, building on that is going to be key for him over the next few months here.

Jackson is ranked No. 16 nationally, No. 3 at his position and the No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
