Ty Chandler

Not only was Saturday night Chandler’s best performance so far as a Tar Heel, but also the most productive outing of his collegiate career.

The graduate transfer from Tennessee was dominant in the run game, as he fell just short of the 200 yard rushing mark. Chandler carried the ball 20 times for 198 yard and two scores, and really helped open up options in the Tar Heels’ offensive attack.

Chandler’s 198 rushing yards were a career high for the veteran running back. He shattered his previous high of 158 yards that he set against UTEP back in 2018.

When he arrived on campus, many hoped that Chandler could be a major factor in filling the void left by Javonte Williams and Michael Carter. However, the first two weeks didn’t go as planned for the Nashville, Tennessee native, as it seemed like the team’s run game was struggling to get in a rhythm as a whole.

This week, Chandler had a breakout performance, and Tar Heel fans hope that this is the guy that shows up on a weekly basis for the remainder of the season.
