UNC Football helmet stickers vs Virginia Tech
Josh Downs
Downs, like the rest of the North Carolina offense, was essentially non-existent throughout the first half. However, the Hokies couldn’t slow down the sophomore wide receiver for four full quarters.
The Suwanee, GA native ended up setting career-highs in receptions (8) and yards (123). Downs scored the first touchdown of the Tar Heels season, as he took a Sam Howell screen pass 37-yards down the field for a score.
With the score, Downs became part of history. The touchdown was Howell’s 69th career touchdown pass, which now is the most ever by a Tar Heels quarterback.
As the Tar Heels need to replace a good chunk of their skill player production from a year ago, Downs most certainly will have his chance to help fill the void. Based on his first game action this season, you could make the case that the sophomore pass catcher is set for a huge breakout year.
