After recently committing to the UNC football program, Travis Shaw is looking to lure more of the Tar Heels’ top targets to Chapel Hill.

Social media provides an interesting dynamic to the world of sports. Now, more than ever, everyone has the opportunity to follow their favorite athletes to see what their presence on various social media outlets looks like.

For fans of the UNC football program, they have to love what they see on the official Twitter account of newly-committed five-star recruit Travis Shaw.

After committing to North Carolina last week, Shaw, an elite defensive lineman that 247 Sports ranks as the No. 2 defensive lineman in the class of 2022 as well as the top player in the state of North Carolina, has made an effort to help with recruiting more top talent to Chapel Hill.

Shaw started with the above tweet, which makes you think that he believes there’s more top recruits on the way. Shortly after, Shaw started sending out some personal tweets to some Tar Heel targets, including five-star offensive lineman Zach Rice, four-star wide receiver Andre Greene Jr. and George Pettaway, the No. 3-rated running back in the class of 2022.

Although Shaw got the ball rolling in regards to the social media recruitment of these players, he did get some help from Armando Bacot, who has been just as active as a social media recruiter for the UNC basketball program.

Now, this should not be seen as a knock against the current roster of players. After his official commitment, Shaw acknowledged that the Tar Heels have a ton of talent already in the mix. However, as Shaw prepares for his arrival on campus, he’ll want to make sure that there’s even more talent for Mack Brown and company to work with.

Social media has totally changed the recruiting game. Of course, players have definitely played a role in recruiting other top talents to join them with their respective programs, but the world of social media provides fans the opportunity to see it play out right in front of them.

If you’re into what recruits the UNC football program is targeting, you may want to give Shaw a follow. He might give you some valuable insight as to who the program hopes may be heading to Chapel Hill over the next few seasons.
