UNC Football: Bug Howard reunites with old teammate in Buffalo
Now that he has officially signed with the Buffalo Bills, former UNC football standout Bug Howard is reunited with his former quarterback.
Bug Howard is ready for his next stop in the NFL. The former UNC football standout has officially signed a deal with the Buffalo Bills.
The former Tar Heel wide receiver is set to play for his sixth different NFL team. After going un-drafted in 2017, Howard signed a free agent deal with the Indianapolis Colts. Since then, Howard spent time with the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers before landing with the Atlanta Legends of the AAF in 2019.
After his stint in the AAF, Howard returned to the NFL as a member of both the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Denver Broncos organizations. He made his return in a new position, as he transition from his original position of wide receiver to tight end.
Howard had a very solid career in Chapel Hill. Over 53 appearances (20 starts), the former Tar Heel wide receiver hauled in 146 passes for 2,048 yards and 18 touchdowns. His best season came in 2016, his senior year, in which he set career-highs in receptions (53), yards (827) and touchdowns (8).
In case you forgot, his quarterback during his career at North Carolina was none other than Mitch Trubisky, who is now beginning his first season with the Bills organization as well.
Not only is this another opportunity for Howard to showcase his value, but he also gets to reunite with a former UNC football teammate in the process. Hopefully this landing spot turns out to be a successful one for both former Tar Heels.
