Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program have a top-ranked recruiting class for the 2022 cycle and they aren’t done yet.

The Tar Heels currently have a few more prospects offered and would love to add at least one, maybe two more to their class. If that happens, they should find themselves in the top 10 when it’s all said and done.

On Friday, the Tar Heels took a step forward for one of those remaining targets as forward Tyler Nickel made an update to his recruitment. Nickel cut his list of 18 offers down to five teams and will focus on these teams moving forward: North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Iowa, Butler, & LSU.

The 6-foot-8, 210-pound Nickel hails out of Elkton, Virginia and is ranked No. 79 overall, No. 22 small forward,  and No. 4 player in the state of Virginia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Nickel has been on UNC’s radar for months now but just recently received an offer from Davis and the program. Since then, the interest has been mutual from North Carolina indicating that the Tar Heels are a legit contender.

The talented prospect has yet to visit any programs but has scheduled one for Iowa on September 17th. Nickel has expressed interest in visiting other programs and we imagine that the Tar Heels would be in line to get a visit especially now that they have made Nickel’s top 5.

Next. Who else will commit to UNC's 2022 class?. dark
