Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program are looking to build onto their 2022 recruiting class, which is already ranked No. 2 in the nation.

Who’d have thought that things would be going as well as they currently are for the North Carolina Tar Heels when their three-time national title-winning head coach walked away from the game of basketball on April 1? My guess is no one, but there can’t be a single Carolina-blue clad fan regretting the program’s decision to hire long-time UNC assistant and 12-year NBA veteran Hubert Davis to replace beloved Hall-of-Famer Roy Williams.

Less than four months later, the Tar Heels are in as good of a position as they could have hoped for, and Davis is among the hottest coaches in college basketball on the recruiting trail. Not only did he reel in three highly thought of transfers in his first three months on the job, he’s gotten commitments from a trio of 2022 prospects that has his first recruiting class ranked No. 2 in the nation.

Despite all of that, it appears that Davis is just getting started. He’s extended scholarship offers to a dozen other prospects in hopes of earning pledges from at least a couple more high school seniors. At this point, there’s no guarantee how the first-year UNC head coach and his staff of assistants will finish up their inaugural recruiting class, but we do know who most of the players are at this point.

We’ll spend some time spotlighting those players today, as well as the three that have already named North Carolina as their school of choice for the fall of 2022. We’ll also project which remaining uncommitted prospects will commit to the Tar Heels, further strengthening their position in the 2022 team rankings.
