Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program continue pushing for a commitment from 4-star power forward Isaac Traudt, who recently talked about why he likes the Tar Heels so much.

4-star power forward and class of 2022 prospect Isaac Traudt is one of the most sought-after high school basketball players in the nation. The rising senior big man and consensus top-100 recruit is holding better than two-dozen scholarship offers, and his growing list of schools is as distinguished as it is long.

With offers from Creighton, Drake, Georgetown, Iowa, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Virginia and Wisconsin, the 6-foot-9, 210-pound front court standout from Grand Island, Nebraska will almost undoubtedly end up playing for one of the nation’s top basketball programs.

He’s already taken official visits to Michigan State, Nebraska, North Carolina and Virginia over the past month, which followed an unofficial trip to Creighton on June 1. As it stands, nobody appears to have a real good feel for where Traudt will end up playing his college ball, but each of the five schools that he’s visited to this point have to be feeling pretty good about their current positioning in his recruitment.

Traudt had good things to say about North Carolina, in particular, in a recent interview recapping his busy month of June visits. He highlighted what he likes about the program, and the people that he spent the most time with when he was on the Tar Heels’ Chapel Hill campus on June 30.

"“UNC has a great tradition obviously, but it was the staff that really stood out to me,” Traudt told Stockrisers’ Jake Weingarten. “Their facilities were great too but we enjoyed our time with Coach Davis and the staff. The players I was with the most were Justin McKoy and Brady Manek.”"

It’s interesting that Traudt spent so much time with redshirt sophomore transfer Justin McCoy and senior graduate transfer Brady Manek, a pair of players that haven’t logged a single minute in a Carolina uniform to this point.

Traudt, the No. 51 prospect in the 247Sports Composite for 2022, is likely to take more recruiting trips in the coming months. One program that he’s mentioned specifically is the Oklahoma Sooners, though there’s no date set for that visit. We do know that he’s planning to make a commitment prior to his senior season, however, so any potential visits that he ends up making will have to take place in the very near future.
