4-star power forward Isaac Traudt officially visits UNC basketball program on Wednesday

Class of 2022 prospect Isaac Traudt was in Chapel Hill on Wednesday for an official visit with the North Carolina Tar Heels and their new-look coaching staff led by first-year head coach Hubert Davis. Traudt, a 6-foot-9, 210-pound power forward from Grand Island, Nebraska, was one of the first players to receive an offer from the Tar Heels following their highly-publicized head coaching change in April.

His offer from the Tar Heels is just one of about 30 offers from some of college basketball’s top programs. That list includes Creighton, Drake, Georgetown, Iowa, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Virginia and Wisconsin, so it’s safe to say that the Tar Heels have their work cut out.

It is a good sign that they got Traudt on campus for a visit, though, and it’s one that the rising big man told Stockrisers last month that he was very excited for. He did, however, take June recruiting trips to Creighton, Nebraska, Virginia and most recently Michigan State, and that quartette must be looked at as strong competition for Traudt’s commitment — at least until we know more. We also know that Traudt plans to take a trip to Norman, Oklahoma to see the Sooners’ basketball program, presumably in the near future.

A senior at Grand Island Senior School, Traudt is the No. 51 prospect in the 247Sports Composite for 2022. He’s the ninth-ranked power forward on the class, and No. 1 in the state of Nebraska. He’s 67th in the Rivals150, and No. 10 among players at his position.
