There was a point where the UNC Basketball program appeared to be the heavy favorites for talented four-star recruit De’Ante Green. The Swannanoa, North Carolina native is one of the top players in the country and has seen his stock rise a bit as the months have gone on.

UNC did offer Green last year with Roy Williams at the helm but the Tar Heels continued to show interest in the recruit even with Hubert Davis taking over.

However, the race to land Green appears to be picking up and it’s possible UNC could be falling back a bit. With two commitments in 2022, the Tar Heels are looking to add more and there’s no denying that Green is among their top targets. The 6-foot-9, 215-pound recruit has been on three visits in June as he went to N.C. State, Wake Forest and Tennessee. He had one scheduled for UNC but postponed it and opted to reschedule for the Fall.

But coming off those visits, what’s Green’s plan?

Jamie Shaw of Rivals.com wrote on Green’s recruitment including mentioning that the Wolfpack, Volunteers and Demon Deacons appear to be putting on a full-court press for him, plus an update on his future visits which should include UNC and Florida State:

"It has already been a busy month for  De’Ante Green, as he has gone on official visits to NC State, Wake Forest and Tennessee. Green kicked off his performance at the NCISAA Live Showcase with a 23-point, 12-rebound performance with NC State coach Kevin Keatts, Wake Forest coach Steve Forbes and Tennessee assistant Justin Gainey sitting baseline. All three programs were at each of Green’s games for the entire weekend.Green is considering visits to Florida State and the North Carolina in August. As he goes on these campuses, he knows what he will be looking for, “I want to go to a place that I feel comfortable, will they take me in as family; somewhere that I will be happy on and off the court,” Green says."

Getting Green on campus would be big for the Tar Heels but we have to wonder where they stand in this recruitment right now. They are still the favorites to land him per the 247Sports crystal ball predictor but it does appear as if the Wolfpack, Volunteers and Demon Deacons have all made up some ground.

Green is certainly a recruit worth monitoring moving forward with UNC interest.
