After spending last weekend out on the East Coast watching a few prospects including five-star center Dereck Lively, Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program will be back on the recruiting trail this weekend.

With more live evaluations for high school programs taking place, the UNC staff will use this time to evaluate targets in 2022 and 2023. There are a few different events going on this weekend but we do expect UNC to attend at least one event.  And already, they appear to have their eyes on a four-star prospect in 2022.

Per Jake Weingarten of StockRisers, North Carolina will be one of the teams in attendance to watch top 50 recruit Kyle Filipowski this weekend:

Joining UNC in watching the power forward will be Duke, Virginia, Michigan, Ohio State, Maryland, Northwestern, Iowa, UCLA, Syracuse, Miami, Indiana and UCONN among others. It sounds like Filipowski is going to draw a heck of a crowd in the New England Preps showcase event.

The 6-foot-11-inch, 230-pound Filipowski is a Wilbraham, Massachusetts native that is ranked No. 45 overall, the No. 9 power forward and the No.1 player in his state per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 22 offers in his recruitment so far, but has yet to land one from UNC.

He’s also taken five visits in the month of June, including one to Duke. With UNC showing interest, this recruitment will be one to watch as time goes on and we will keep an eye on a potential offer possibly soon. UNC did offer Cam Whitmore just a few days after watching him last weekend and if Filipowski impresses, he could be the next recruit to land one from the Tar Heels here in the month of June.

Next. Duke enters the race for a top UNC target. dark
