While most of the attention in the month of June has been on visits for the UNC Basketball program and others across the country, today marked the start of another big day in the recruiting world. As of midnight, teams have been able to contact prospects in the 2023 recruiting class and already UNC is off to a fast start.

Among the prospects that Hubert Davis and his staff have contacted is four-star small forward Gregory Jackson.

The Columbia, South Carolina native is among the top players in the 2023 recruiting class and is close to a five-star ranking. Jackson ranks No. 30 overall, No. 7 at power forward and the No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

As his commitment starts to trend upwards, more and more programs are taking notice of his talent including a pair of Blue Blood programs that took advantage of being able to contact recruits in future classes. Both UNC and Duke were among the latest teams to reach out to him on Tuesday:

Jackson has a total of six offers in his recruitment so far with Clemson, LSU, Syracuse, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wake Forest sending out those official offers. But with UNC and Duke taking notice, Jackson’s recruitment could start to heat up even more moving forward.

North Carolina currently has just one commitment in the 2022 class and none in 2023 but they do have their eyes on some top-ranked talent. Adding a player like Jackson for a future class would be huge, giving them a legit scoring option on the wing.

He’s a recruit that we will certainly have our eyes on as the interest appears to be there from both sides as the Summer continues.
