We are in the middle of a big month of June in terms of recruiting visits for the UNC Basketball program as well as others across the country. With restrictions lifted on June 1, recruits have been able to take visits to see programs and it’s helped in terms of recruiting.

For Hubert Davis and his staff, the Tar Heels have already landed a commitment from a three-star recruit and now they are hoping for more in the 2022 class. One target they have their eyes on is four-star center Dereck Lively II, a recruit that UNC offered a few months back and he’s since drawn interest from other big programs as well.

Lively just completed his official visit to Chapel Hill and will have more visits lined up. But it appears as if UNC really impressed the four-star recruit.

Dushawn London of 247Sports caught up with Lively following his visit and the recruit had nothing but positive things to say about his recent recruiting trip to North Carolina and even said that the Tar Heels set the bar high for his visit:

"“UNC was a great first visit and it set the bar very high,” he said. “I really enjoyed and liked the experience. The environment is something I can see myself playing at and being a part of so it was a great visit overall.”"

Alright then!

That’s certainly good news for where UNC stands after his official visit and now other teams involved in his recruitment have their work cut out for them. Lively also said he loved the energy from assistant coaches and the overall environment that UNC has to offer. More good news!

North Carolina appears to be in solid shape in this recruitment but there is still a long ways to go and other Blue Blood teams are getting involved. Lively has visits set to Duke and Kentucky in the coming weeks and those really could determine UNC’s fate in this recruitment. Buckle up because we are headed for a recruiting battle that could go down to the wire.

Next. UNC is reportedly the strong favorite for this 5-star recruit. dark
