Day’Ron Sharpe will represent the UNC basketball program at this year’s NBA Draft combine.

The 2021 NBA Draft combine is scheduled to take place between June 21 and June 27. The combine gives NBA executives, coaches and scouts the opportunity to get a first-hand look at some of the upcoming draft’s top prospects.

As the combine is scheduled to begin in just under a week, the official list of participants has been announced. The UNC basketball will once again be represented at this year’s event.

Day’Ron Sharpe has accepted an invitation to compete at this year’s NBA Draft combine. The former UNC basketball standout is one of just 68 players invited to be a part of this year’s event.

Last year, the NBA did not hold their annual combine due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Former Tar Heel Cole Anthony was on the draft board, and you could make the case that his draft stock would have improved if he had the opportunity to put his athleticism and basketball ability on display.

Sharpe is not currently viewed as a possible lottery pick like Anthony was. However, there are some mixed projections as to where the former Tar Heel may be selected. Some mock drafts have Sharpe being selected at some point during the later part of the first round, while others have him slipping somewhere into the second round.

In his lone season in Chapel Hill, Sharpe showed that he has the potential to be a really good basketball player. Over 29 games, the freshman forward averaged 9.5 points and 7.6 rebounds in just under 20 minutes per game. Although he was used mostly in a reserve role, Sharpe became a major factor in the Tar Heels’ front court as the season progressed.

With the NBA Draft just a few weeks away, this will be a great opportunity for Sharpe to showcase his skillset. The goal of the week’s events is for Sharpe to improve his overall draft stock, proving to teams that he is worthy of being selected as a first round pick.
