The UNC Basketball program has been in pursuit of four-star forward De’Ante Green for over a year now. The Tar Heels officially offered Green back in December when Roy Williams was still the head coach and even with the switch to Hubert Davis, the pursuit is still on.

The in-state forward has become a priority recruit for the Tar Heels so far in a 2022 recruiting class in which they have just one prospect committed. Green is a Swannanoa, North Carolina native that plays his high school ball at Asheville Christian Academy and is the top-ranked player in the state.

He’s set to take multiple visits this Summer with trips to NC State, Wake Forest and Tennessee this June. He postponed his visit to UNC just over a week ago and instead will look to visit Chapel Hill this August. While that’s a little disappointing, Green’s recruitment is still open and more teams are starting to get involved.

And one of those teams that Green hopes to hear from is the Duke Blue Devils.

When talking to Rivals recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw, Green spoke on his recruitment and a few teams he would like to hear from including the Blue Devils.

"“Playing in July I would like to hear from Duke, and coach Chester Frazier from Illinois has been talking to me too.” Green said, “I want to go to a place where I feel comfortable, where they take me in as family.”"

That’s certainly not good news for the Tar Heels as anytime Duke’s name is brought up in a recruitment for a UNC target, we could be headed for a Blue Blood battle. While the Tar Heels have won a few of those battles over the past few years, it’s disappointing to see a priority recruit express interest in your rival. But it is Green’s recruitment and it does appear to still be wide open.

In addition to revealing that he wants to hear from Duke, Green also talked about Davis as UNC’s next coach and what the Tar Heels are selling him on:

"North Carolina: “Head coach Hubert Davis was the coach who first started talking to me, so it was a smooth transition that he got the head coaching job there. They are basically telling me they can put me into the league.”"

With UNC being considered the early favorite, things don’t appear to be close to over in this recruitment.
