UNC Basketball: Is pro route an option for this Tar Heels target?
By Zack Pearson
Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program got into the mix for five-star small forward Chris Livingston after offering him a month ago.
The Ohio native’s recruitment has picked up a bit as he currently has 9 offers and is drawing interest from blue blood programs like the Tar Heels, Kentucky and Kansas along the way. For Livingston, his recruitment will only heat up more as the summer months go on and the interest should continue to rise as well.
Even with historic programs like Kentucky, UNC and Kansas showing interest, is the pro route a legit option for the recruit? It likely is.
In his latest blog for USA Today, Livingston offered up the latest on his recruitment including which programs are interested as well as touching on going with the pro route. Here is what Livingston said in the article:
"My recruitment has picked up a lot this spring; my latest offers came from Kentucky, North Carolina and Kansas, but I’m also hearing from LSU, Ohio State, Tennessee State, Akron, Memphis, Georgetown and a bunch of others.I’m always open to all options, including the G League and things like that.I think you just have to be open to everything."
The recruit didn’t flat out say he’s going pro or anything like that and it’s not shocking to see him keep his options open. With the G League and new Overtime League, more and more recruits are keeping that pro option open.
Livingston also talked about setting up some visits in the Summer but has yet to get those dates established as of right now. We imagine UNC should be getting one as will Kentucky and likely Kansas, too.
