The month of June is a big one for all college programs with the NCAA lifting restrictions and allowing recruits to visits campuses across the country. It’s going to be a wild month as things begin to open up more in recruiting and the UNC Basketball program is already hosting a visitor right away.

Hubert Davis and his staff are expecting more than five recruits to visit Chapel Hill in the month of June and it’s being kicked off by three-star center Will Shaver.

The Birmingham, Alabama native received his offer from UNC a few weeks back and it didn’t take long for him to add the Tar Heels to his list of visits. Shaver is currently set to visit six programs with a few official and some unofficial visits beginning in June. And North Carolina has locked up the first one beginning on Tuesday and ending on Wednesday.

In addition to North Carolina, Shaver will visit Wake Forest (June 4-5), Virginia Tech (June 28-29), Kansas (June 23-24), Purdue (June 18-19), and Iowa (Sept 4-5).

Prior to his trip to North Carolina, Shaver caught up with Travis Branham of 247Sports to break down his recruitment and the upcoming visits including to Chapel Hill. When talking about UNC, Shaver revealed that the staff’s pitch is for Shaver to come in and start right away as a true freshman:

"“I am going on a visit Tuesday and Wednesday and they’re just telling me that they’re recruiting me not to come there and sit on the bench but they’re recruiting me to come in and play as a freshman and improve myself so that’s really something I would love to do over there.”"

The 6-foot-9, 245-pound center is ranked No. 146 overall, No. 16 center and the No. 2 player in the state of Alabama by 247Sports. But recently, Shaver has upped his stock with his terrific play and should see a boost in his rating when they are updated.

Shaver has yet to set an official date for an announcement on his decision but it’s not coming until the Fall after he’s taken all of his visits. North Carolina is certainly a team to keep an eye on in this recruitment as they look to land their first commitment for 2022.
