UNC Basketball: 2022 four-star target sets official visit date
By Zack Pearson
With the NCAA lifting restrictions on recruiting next month, June will be a huge month in terms of recruiting for all programs across the country. For the UNC Basketball program, it’s shaping up to be an important month for new head coach Hubert Davis.
In the first month of Davis being on the job, he’s been able to keep both 2021 recruits committed, offered new recruits and transfers as well as reaffirm offers to other prospects in future classes.
Among the players that Davis reaffirmed an offer to was four-star forward Justin Taylor out of Charlottesville, Virginia. The 6-foot-6, 200-pound Taylor originally received his offer from Roy Williams in February but Davis and his staff want to prioritize him as a recruiting target and ensured that his offer will remain.
Now, Taylor is set to make his first official visit to Chapel Hill.
Per Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, Taylor has set a few official visits for June including one to North Carolina on the weekend of June 5th:
Prior to his visit at UNC, Taylor will be at Virginia Tech on June 3rd and then will head to Syracuse from June 9-10.
Davis is ranked No. 87 overall, the No. 21 small forward and the No. 5 player in the state of Virginia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 15 offers in his recruitment including from other ACC programs like Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Virginia.
It’s tough to say where UNC stands in this recruitment right now but this is shaping up to be a recruitment to watch, especially with a few other ACC programs in the mix as well as Indiana out of the Big Ten. Taylor could also set some other visits as well.
In addition to Taylor visiting in June, four-star De’Ante Green will also be on campus from June 11-12th for his official visit.
