4-star in-state recruit sets official visit with Hubert Davis, UNC basketball program

De’Ante Green, a highly-touted in-state recruit and 4-star power forward from the class of 2022, has set an official visit with the North Carolina Tar Heels.

According to Stockrisers’ Jake Weingarten, the Swannanoa, North Carolina native will be in Chapel Hill on June 11-12 following Davis’ affirmation of Green’s scholarship offer, one that originally came from former UNC head coach Roy Williams.

Green, who led his team to a NCISAA 3-A state championship victory over Gaston Christian School last season, is the No. 20 power forward in the class of 2022 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s 12th in the Top247, however, and the consensus top-ranked player in the state of North Carolina. He’s a player that the state’s flagship school would not like to see get away, despite the change at head coach mid-recruitment.

The 6-foot-9, 215-pound Green has stated that he plans to visit each of his six finalists, including Florida State, NC State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest. Despite that, North Carolina looks to have a pretty good shot at landing the talented local prospect.

Given Green’s proximity to the school, and the Tar Heels’ rich basketball history, UNC should remain in the short list of favorites for the 4-star forward. Green has noted on multiple occasions that North Carolina is his “dream school”, and analysts across multiple recruiting platforms agree that the Tar Heels are in the lead for his commitment.
