UNC Basketball: Justin Jackson waived by Oklahoma City Thunder
The former UNC basketball standout will be looking for a new home after being waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Oklahoma City Thunder have waived former UNC basketball standout Justin Jackson.
In his lone season with the Thunder, Jackson, 26, appeared in 33 games. The former Tar Heel averaged 7.2 points per game on 40.6 percent shooting from the floor while playing around 16.5 minutes per contest.
Jackson had some impressive performances as a member of the Thunder organization. During the month of February, Jackson posted back-to-back games in which he scored 20 or more points, and had double-digit point totals in five of his last eight games.
Jackson is currently in his fourth NBA season. The 26-year-old has averaged 6.6 points per-game over his 247 career contests for three different organizations.
With the Thunder clearly in a rebuilding phase, it shouldn’t be a surprise that they decided to part ways with Jackson. With some playoff contending teams looking for additional depth, it is possible that Jackson will quickly find a new home for the final stretch of the season.
As he looks for a new home to end the regular season, Jackson will also hope to find a permanent home to continue his professional basketball career.
