For the second-straight week, the UNC Basketball program has had a game postponed that was scheduled at home.

Just minutes before North Carolina and Virginia were scheduled tipoff in Charlottesville, news broke that the Tar Heels’ next game against Virginia Tech was postponed. The Hokies have a positive test in their program and will adhere to the outlined protocols within the ACC Medical Advisory Group report.

The two teams were supposed to meet at Tuesday night in the Dean Dome. Instead, UNC will now wait until next Saturday as they are scheduled to play at Louisville.

This is the third game that has been postponed due to COVID-19, all home games for the Tar Heels. They have missed out on playing Clemson, Miami and now Virginia Tech at home this year.

While this game won’t take place next week, the Tar Heels could use this as an opportunity to makeup a game against Miami. The Hurricanes currently don’t have any games scheduled until next Saturday, leaving a potential week open for the two teams to meet. The Hurricanes were set to come to Chapel Hill last Monday but after a video of UNC players without masks in a setting around others leaked, the two sides agreed not to play the game.

The Tar Heels are in a spot where they really can’t afford any more postponements despite being included in mock brackets up to date. They need to find a way to stack wins before the ACC Tournament to help boost their chances, and postponements won’t help that cause.

With this postponement, UNC has now played 8 of their 12 conference games on the road including Saturday against Virginia. It would help to get a few of these home games played down the stretch.

Next. UNC should prioritize this 4-star recruit. dark
