The UNC basketball program will not play tonight’s scheduled ACC matchup against the Miami Hurricanes.

Just hours prior to tip-off on Monday night, it was announced that the Tar Heels’ scheduled game against Miami has been postponed. According to the official Atlantic Coast Conference press release, the postponement “follows a meeting of personnel from both schools, who mutually concluded the game could not move forward today.”

Earlier in the day, video footage surfaced online revealing a postgame celebration following the team’s big win over arch rival Duke. Rising sophomore big man Armando Bacot and freshman center Day’Ron Sharpe were seen in the video, and neither were wearing masks in a room that had at least seven people in it.

Monday night’s game postponement is a direct result of the video, and the ensuing meeting between the two schools in which members of the Miami program stated that they weren’t comfortable playing the game after recent developments.

As of now, the Tar Heels are scheduled to travel to Virginia on Saturday for an important ACC contest. Tip-off is currently set for 6:00 p.m., and the game will be featured live on ESPN. That, of course, is if no further postponements take place in light of recent events. Don’t be surprised if that game is put on hold, too, particularly with it being against a top-10 team that leads the ACC, and is in position to get a high seed in March’s NCAA Tournament.
