UNC Basketball freshman Caleb Love was honored by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday for his play over the past week for the Tar Heels

For the second-straight week, a UNC Basketball freshman has been honored by the Atlantic Coast Conference for their play as the Tar Heels continue to improve.

Last week guard R.J. Davis was honored as the conference’s freshman of the week award for his performances against Syracuse and Florida State. Now it’s his teammate, Caleb Love, who is being honored after the Tar Heels completed a 2-0 week.

Love was named the ACC Freshman of the Week for the past week on Monday, becoming the third UNC freshman to win the award. He joins Day’Ron Sharpe who won it a few weeks back and Love who won it last week.

The guard averaged 17.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals in wins over Wake Forest and N.C. State last week as the Tar Heels have won five of their last six games. After a slow start to the season, Love appears to be hitting his stride at the right time for the Tar Heels.

The former five-star recruit is playing a lot better and has continued to earn his spot in the starting lineup for this UNC team. Instead of letting his previous struggles get to him, he’s worked hard on his game by staying in the gym to shoot following games and turning to meditation. So far, it’s worked and he’s shown flashes of what many expected from him when he arrived on campus.

UNC will look to keep their win streak alive this week as they travel to take on a good Pitt team led by sophomore Justin Champagnie who has won back-to-back Player of the Week awards.
