The UNC Football team received some good news on Thursday night, landing a commitment from a three-star prospect out of the state of Virginia. We break it all down and what it means.

Mack Brown and his UNC Football program are entering the 2021 offseason with a lot of hype following their Orange Bowl appearance last season. But on Thursday, they received some good news in terms of a future recruiting class.

The Tar Heels landed their third commitment in the 2022 recruiting class as three-star offensive lineman Trevyon Green pledged his verbal.

Green pledged his verbal commitment doing a live special on Twitter with Rivals reporter Adam Friedman:

Green is ranked No. 506 nationally, No. 51 offensive tackle and No. 16 in the state of Virginia per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings.

The  6-foot-7, 331-pound product out of Virginia had a total of 7 offers in his recruitment and was originally a member of the 2021 recruiting class. He earned offers from Boston College, Liberty, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and William & Mary. UNC officially offered him in July of 2019 but then he reclassified to 2022. That earned him another offer from UNC earlier this month and it didn’t take long for him to make a decision.

With the commitment from Green, UNC now has a total of three recruits in their 2022 class which ranks No. 18 overall. Green joins defensive back Tayon Holloway and wide receiver Tychaun Chapman. This is a great start to the 2022 cycle for UNC as they turned in a Top 20 class for the 2021 cycle and are hoping to build for the future.

They could receive some more good news in February as another top target is set to make his decision.
