A four-star 2022 UNC Football recruiting target has set his decision date as the Tar Heels look to add their third commitment in the class

Mack Brown and his UNC Football program have just two recruits committed in their 2022 recruiting cycle as they get set to turn in another Top 20 class for the 2021 cycle.

With 2021 coming to a close, there is still a lot of time left in this 2022 recruiting cycle and North Carolina will get their commits rolling in. But they may not have to wait long for their next commit in 2022.

Four-star outside linebacker Malaki Hamrick announced on Monday that he has set a decision date to end his recruitment. Hamrick revealed that he will be officially committing to a school on February 26th:

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Hamrick is a Shelby, North Carolina native that has a total of 16 offers right now. He’s rated No. 142 overall, No. 12 outside linebacker and the No. 5 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings.

But where is Hamrick leaning?

With those 16 offers Hamrick received interest from a lot of big programs but announced in November that he will focus on five teams: Ohio State, Penn State, North Carolina, Appalachian State and Notre Dame. Going into this decision, it does appear that the Tar Heels could be the favorites however.

The Tar Heels have the lone Crystal Ball prediction on 247 Sports, coming from Michael Clark who covers N.C. State with a confidence of 10. Usually the insiders are right but it’s typically the national experts we look for when they make a prediction.

Hamrick was originally supposed to commit in April but has since switched to February, which could signal good news for the Tar Heels. Still, the competition is tough with Ohio State, Notre Dame and Penn State still in it.
