The latest UNC Basketball recruiting nugget comes in the form of this five-star power forward and who is working hard to land him

The 2022 recruiting class has been a tough one to evaluate for the UNC Basketball program as well as others due to the ongoing pandemic which has forced the NCAA to impose a ban on travel for official visits. Programs have now had to focus on Zoom meetings and phone calls with recruits in this cycle.

But that hasn’t stopped Roy Williams and his staff from putting in the work and establishing their top targets for 2022.

The Tar Heels have five active offers out in that 2022 class but have yet to land a commitment in this cycle. That will obviously change as time goes on and now the Tar Heels are slowly shifting their focus to their top priorities.

Among them? Five-star power forward Jarace Walker who is already one of the best players in this class.

The IMG Academy product landed his offer from North Carolina back in October and since then, UNC has been in pursuit of the talented 6-foot-8 power forward. Walker and IMG Academy are currently participating in the St. James NIBC Invitational outside of D.C. and was mentioned by Eric Bossi in his latest piece for 247 Sports. With Bossi talking about Walker, he revealed on Sunday that the five-star recruit has three programs ‘working the hardest’ for him right now:

"His jumper is still a work in progress but where he would pass on open looks over his first two seasons, he’s now got the confidence to take open shots. Walker mentioned Auburn, Michigan and North Carolina as the three teams working him the hardest and finished with 14 points and nine rebounds."

At this stage, UNC has needs all over the roster for that 2022 class and landing a player like Walker should be a top priority. He’s ranked No. 8 overall, No. 2 power forward and the No. 3 player in Florida per 247 Sports. He will be a big get for any program but is quickly becoming a priority for UNC.

Walker will be a name to watch as the weeks go on and hopefully UNC can do enough to become the favorites for him.

Next. UNC is a 'dream school' for this Top 100 player. dark
