Roy Williams and his UNC Basketball staff are still in contact with a four-star guard in the 2022 recruiting class but have yet to offer

The UNC Basketball program has two players committed in the 2021 recruiting class as we hit the stretch run here for that cycle. But with the 2021 cycle still a focus, the 2022 class is starting to heat up.

Roy Williams and his staff at North Carolina are doing some work on the 2022 class as they currently have a total of six offers out with five being active. After missing out on Skyy Clark, the Tar Heels are hoping to land their first recruit in this class.

One prospect they have their eyes on that they have yet to offer is four-star combo guard Isaac McKneely. The 6-foot-4,170-pound McKneely cut his list down to eight schools back in November including the Tar Heels despite not having an offer. That’s certainly good news as McKneely is still considering them.

While McKneely’s recruitment has been quiet as of late, he recently talked to Tipton Edits about his recruitment and where he stands. In the interview, McKneely revealed which teams have been pursuing him the most including the Tar Heels:

"Yes I’ve narrowed my list to 8 schools back in November. Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Purdue, Virginia, and West Virginia. The 8 schools I’ve narrowed it down to are all reaching out consistently.Kentucky and North Carolina. They both have been in contact with me for a while now, and they made it into my final 8 schools. So I’d say those two."

We should note that McKneely has yet to officially visit UNC in his recruitment and has not conducted a virtual visit either. That’s not a great sign for the Tar Heels despite showing interest.

Without an offer, it’s tough to gauge just where the Tar Heels stand in this recruitment. But we’d expect that if UNC is truly interested and really wants to pursue him, an offer would be coming soon.

McKneely is a recruit we will continue to monitor and hopefully there’s an offer down the line.
