UNC Basketball: Pair of former UNC sharpshooters net 12 points apiece
A pair of former UNC basketball standouts scored 12 points apiece in their respective Wednesday night games.
Former North Carolina basketball players had a heck of a night on Wednesday. From Danny Green’s season-high 15 points to Coby White notching his 1,000th career point as a professional, Tar Heels far and wide were making their mark on the NBA landscape.
Another pair of former UNC sharpshooters, Wayne Ellington and Reggie Bullock, both had nice games for their respective teams, too.
For Ellington, it was just his third appearance of the 2020-21 season, but the Detroit Pistons shooting guard kept his double-digit scoring streak alive. In games against the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks (twice), the 2009 national champion scored 11, 13 and 12 points, respectively, and is shooting nearly 54 percent from the floor over that span. He’s also shooting 41.1 percent from three-point range, and has committed just one turnover in 70 minutes of play.
Ellington has been in the Pistons’ starting lineup each of the past two games, and perhaps he will stay there with more performances like this. His team certainly can’t be in any worse shape for giving him a go in the starting five, as they’ve dropped seven of their first eight games to begin the season.

In his second season with the New York Knicks, Bullock has already had his share of ups and downs. He’s yet to score double-figure points in consecutive games, and is still averaging just nine points per contest. He scored 12 points on a 5-for-8 shooting performance on Wednesday night, though, and hit 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. He also pulled down a season-high seven rebounds in 30 minutes, helping the Knicks to a 112-100 victory over the Utah Jazz.
Aided by the outstanding play of seventh-year power forward Julius Randle (22.1 points, 11.4 rebounds, 7.4 assists) Bullock and the Knicks are off to an unexpected 5-3 start, with impressive victories over the Jazz, Hawks and Bucks.
