The UNC Basketball program made the cut for this four-star shooting guard in the 2022 recruiting class on Tuesday afternoon

As Roy Williams and his UNC Basketball program continues to tread through this 2020-21 college basketball season, they are still paying attention to future recruiting classes. It’s clear that the Tar Heels are struggling with shooting this season so focusing on players that can make a difference down the line in that area is key.

Just two weeks ago, the Tar Heels officially offered four-star shooting guard Nick Smith in the 2022 recruiting class as they hope to land their first commitment in the class. On Tuesday, they took a step forward in hoping to land him.

The four-star shooting guard officially revealed his Top 10 schools in his recruitment on Tuesday afternoon, cutting his list down to: UNC, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas Tech, Baylor, Ole Miss, Florida, Georgetown, Auburn and Southern Miss:

Smith had a total of 18 offers in his recruitment but will now focus on these 10 schools moving forward. The 6-foot-4, 170-pound Smith is ranked as the No. 26 overall recruit and No. 2 shooting guard in the 247 Sports rankings. He’s a natural scorer that would be a big get on the wing for the Tar Heels.

Both Kansas and UNC were the two latest programs to get involved in his recruitment and that could make a big difference. We could be headed for a Blue Blood battle between the Tar Heels and Jayhawks to land the talented scorer out of Arkansas.

Smith is one of six players that hold an offer in the 2022 class by the Tar Heels but there are only five active as Skyy Clark committed to Kentucky. While Williams is hoping to land one more recruit to his 2021 two-man class, the focus is starting to shift to the 2022 cycle and it’s an important class for the future of the program.
