This four-star shooting guard is the latest prospect to receive an offer from the UNC Basketball program in the 2022 recruiting class

Roy Williams and the UNC Basketball program have a new target on their 2022 recruiting board and have officially added an offer to the prospect.

On Tuesday night, class of 2022 four-star shooting guard Nick Smith Jr.  revealed that he has officially received an offer from North Carolina. The offer comes after there was reported interest between the Tar Heels and Smith and it slowly became apparent that there would eventually be an offer.

Smith posted this tweet on Tuesday night to reveal the offer:

The shooting guard is the sixth player to receive an offer from North Carolina in the 2022 class, although the Tar Heels only have five active offers as Skyy Clark selected Kentucky earlier in 2020.

At 6-foot-4 and 170 pounds, Smith Jr. is an elite scorer and an ideal fit on the wing for the Tar Heels’ offense. The Arkansas native can score from anywhere on the court and be a factor with his perimeter shooting, as well.

Take a look at some highlights from Smith Jr. below:

Smith Jr. is ranked as No. 26 nationally, No. 2 shooting guard and the No. 1 player in the state of Arkansas per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings. With the UNC offer, he now has a total of 18 offers in his recruitment including from Florida, Kansas, Kansas State and Baylor among other programs.

With a need at the guard position for the future, Smith Jr. is now only the second guard in the 2022 class to receive an offer from the Tar Heels. But he’s likely not the last, as the Tar Heels are starting to do more work on the class as the weeks go on.
