Dazz Newsome

“I’m a ball player so I want to play.”

That quote is what Dazz Newsome responded with when he was asked why he didn’t opt out of the team’s bowl game. The senior will most definitely be turning his attention to the upcoming NFL Draft, but wanted to compete in the team’s biggest bowl game in quite some time.

We’re only two days into the new year, but we may have the catch of the year, courtesy of Mr. Newsome.

In the second quarter, Newsome made this highlight-reel catch to give the Tar Heels their first lead of the ball game.

Even though the Tar Heels added a pair of field goals prior to this, Newsome’s score got the Tar Heels offense going. Overall, Newsome hauled in six of his seven targets for 68 yards and the aforementioned score.

We’ll have to watch Newsome play on Sundays from now on, but we’ll always have the highlight play as a final memory of his outstanding Tar Heels career.
