The 2020 college football season is officially over for the UNC football program.

Due to the COVID-19 virus, there were many doubts that a full season was even going to be possible. However, the Tar Heels were, fortunately, able to play 12 games, and the program enjoyed a very successful season.

Mack Brown’s team finished the regular season with an 8-3 record, earned a berth into this year’s Orange Bowl. This marks the first time in 70 years that the Tar Heels earned a spot in a New Year 6 Bowl Game.

The Tar Heels drew No. 5 ranked Texas A&M as their opponent, and were faced with the challenge of playing without some of their key contributors. Seniors Chazz Surratt and Michael Carter along with juniors Javonte Williams and Dyami Brown opted out to focus their attention to this year’s NFL Draft.

Although the Tar Heels were missing a ton of star power, that didn’t stop the remainder of the roster from competing hard in the team’s bowl game.

The Tar Heels kept it close throughout, but the Aggies were able to pull away to a 41-27 victory. Although the game was decided by two scores, it simply doesn’t show just how impressive the Tar Heels played throughout the contest.
