Former UNC Basketball standout Nassir Little has yet to hit the court this year in the NBA as he details his battle with COVID-19

The 2020-21 NBA season is officially underway as the league has returned after their bubble season a few months ago.

For the UNC Basketball program, they are well-represented in the NBA with several players this year. But one of their most recent draft picks hasn’t hit the floor yet for game action and it’s likely he is still ways away.

Former UNC Basketball forward Nassir Little was drafted by the Portland Trailblazers in the 2019 draft and so far has yet to play this year. In an article in The Athletic, Little revealed that he has been battling COVID-19 after testing positive on December 1st. He has yet to play in a game this year due to his through a difficult experience with COVID-19 and is still not in game playing shape.

Here is what Little had to say about his experience in the article written by Jason Quick:

"It wasn’t until Dec. 22 that Little recorded his first negative test and was able to rejoin the team. In between, he experienced three weeks of hell.“For me, I was on the worst part of the spectrum, the hard end of the disease,” Little said. “I didn’t have to go to the hospital or be on a ventilator, but I went through it bad. It hit me really bad. For about seven to 10 days, I was just really miserable.”"

Little went on to say that it was “hell” for him as he couldn’t eat, couldn’t drink and couldn’t even watch TV due to the headaches. For a professional athlete to say that, it shows how powerful this virus truly is.

The forward is coming off a rookie season in which he averaged 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting 43 percent from the field in 48 total games. Little battled injuries in his freshman season but worked hard in the offseason to get better at his game.

It’s unknown when Little will be back on the floor for the Blazers to make his debut but we are wishing him the best in his recovery.
