Coby White, former UNC basketball star and current Chicago Bulls point guard, notched his first career double-double in a 133-130 victory over the Washington Wizards on Thursday night.

Chicago Bulls point guard Coby White recorded his first career double-double in a 133-130 victory over the Washington Wizards on New Year’s Eve, scoring 16 points and dishing out a team-best 10 assists.

Even more impressive for the second-year player out of North Carolina is that he committed just three turnovers while logging a game-high 40 minutes on the court. And although he did struggle shooting the basketball, he hit 3-of-9 shots from beyond the arc, and pulled down six rebounds for the game — the second time he’s had at least six boards in a game this season.

White and the Bulls were aided by an outstanding performance from Otto Porter, Jr., who had 28 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals in just 28 minutes of play. It’s the team’s second consecutive victory — both over the Wizards — since starting the season with a record of 0-3.

White is averaging 15 points, 6.2 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game, and is shooting 37.8 percent from three-point range. He’s also hitting 84.6 percent of his attempts from the foul line, and has a 2.06:1 assist-to-turnover ratio fives games into his sophomore season in the NBA.

White and company will be back on the court on Friday night when Chicago takes on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks for a Central Division battle at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
