With the Tar Heels’ success on the ground, there wasn’t a huge need to throw the ball that often on Saturday night. However, Phil Longo and crew got Sam Howell and company involved, and Dyami Brown was the standout performer in the passing game.

Brown hauled in four passes for 167 yards. The big play came for Brown came near the end of the second quarter.

With the Tar Heels pinned deep in their own territory, Howell and Brown connected on a 87-yard reception. The play set up the Tar Heels to add even more points on the board to extend their lead.

The Tar Heels had some success throwing the ball downfield, as the Hurricanes had to focus their attention on the run game. Although he didn’t find the end zone, Brown had one of the more impressive performances for the Tar Heels.
