UNC Basketball: Tar Heels remain in contact with 2023 recruit

The North Carolina Tar Heels have their eyes set on this 2023 recruit and remain in contact with the point guard, showing significant interest

Roy Williams and his UNC Basketball staff are hoping to sure up their 2021 recruiting class with another commitment, adding to the two players currently signed. While UNC has offers out to three more recruits in that class, the Tar Heels aren’t ignoring other future classes.

While the Tar Heels don’t have any commitments in 2022 or 2023, they are doing their homework on recruits and keeping in contact.

One recruit in particular is receiving a lot of interest from the Tar Heels and could land an offer down the road. Four-star point guard Robert Dillingham is only a sophomore but he’s already making headlines in the 2023 recruiting class including grabbing the attention of the Tar Heels.

We wrote over the weekend about Dillingham catching the eyes of analysts at an event in South Carolina and now he’s ready to dish on his recruitment a little more.

Travis Branham of 247 Sports wrote on Dillingham recently, talking to the recruit about the latest in his recruitment. The four-star point guard noted the teams that were talking to him the most and revealed that it was UNC and Virginia Tech currently in pursuit of him.

"“It’s going good since it’s so early I’m getting some high major schools and I am just waiting for more,” Dillingham said of his recruitment. “Recently I have been talking to North Carolina and Virginia Tech the most.”"

Dillingham went on to say what he liked about UNC and how they are recruiting him:

"“Coach [Steve] Robinson has been trying to get to know me as a person and trying to tell me what I need to do better in games and everything. I would love to go there, to be honest. That means a lot because there are a lot of greats that go there.”"

The Charlotte native is certainly a prospect to keep an eye on for UNC fans as there is legit interest from the program and vice-versa. It’s still VERY early in his recruitment and things could change but as of now, Dillingham has 7 offers in his recruitment right now but has yet to get one from the Tar Heels.

That should eventually come down the line as it’s clear UNC is interested.
