The North Carolina Tar Heels Football program lands a big commitment from a four-star tight end in the 2021 recruiting class on Tuesday afternoon

While the UNC Football program prepares for Western Carolina in their final home game of the year on Saturday, they received some good news in terms of their 2021 recruiting class.

On Tuesday afternoon, four-star in-state tight end Bryson Nesbit ended his recruitment and made a decision. That decision was to stay home and join the North Carolina Tar Heels football program.

Nesbit made the announcement via his Twitter account in the afternoon, ending his commitment and pledging that verbal:

The four-star tight end is in his senior year at South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte and was a big target for the Tar Heels 2021 class. UNC has been pursuing him for months now as he had a total of 26 offers.

Breaking down his recruitment, many thought this would be a battle between in-state UNC, UCLA, and South Carolina. He did have offers from programs such as Auburn, LSU, Florida, Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Florida State and Georgia among others. But in the end, he stayed close to home.

Nesbit is ranked as the No. 390 overall recruit, No. 16 tight end and No. 22 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings. At 6-foot-6, 235 pounds, Nesbit will be a big target in UNC’s air raid offense and something they have been missing since Mack Brown took over.

The commitment is the 18th for the Tar Heels in the 2021 class which moves their ranking up to No. 13 overall and No. 3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Barring any major surprises, this should wrap things up for this class as they enter signing day in late December.
