Kyler McMichael

In the Tar Heels battle against the Fighting Irish, we saw a handful of freshman and sophomores get extended amounts of playing time. One of the underclassmen that played a significant role is Kyler McMichael.

The sophomore corner had arguably his best game so far as a Tar Heel. The Atlanta, GA native tied for a team-high seven total tackles, and his five solo tackles were the most of any Tar Heel defenders. McMichael also had a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry in the contest.

With Storm Duck still sidelined due to injury along with some other key injuries, the Tar Heels have been short in regards to their secondary depth. Mack Brown’s team has been searching for players to provide consistent contributions in the secondary.

After sitting out a year due to transfer regulations, it looks as if McMichael is starting to find his place in Chapel Hill. If he can continue to be a steady presence, it would definitely be a huge boost for the UNC football program moving forward.

The Tar Heels will look to put this loss past them, as they prepare to battle Western Carolina on December 5th. Next weekend’s contest is scheduled to kick-off at 12:00 PM EST.
