Michael Carter

The Tar Heels rushing game struggled to get going, as the trio of Michael Carter, Javonte Williams and quarterback Sam Howell carried the ball a combined 30 times for just 87 yards.

However, Carter had a pretty solid performance against the Fighting Irish, and made Tar Heel history in the process.

Carter was the Tar Heels leading rusher, as he carried the ball 8 times for 57 yards. Through the passing game, the senior tailback hauled in a Howell pass for a 23-yard reception. Overall, the Navarre, FL native had 9 touches for 90 yards.

After he surpassed the 35-yard rushing mark, Carter surpassed 3,000 rushing yards during his career at North Carolina. He became the eighth Tar Heel to accomplish the feat.

Although this week’s contest is not the type of performance we’re used to seeing from Carter, him joining the Tar Heels 3,000 yard rushing club shows just how impressive his career in Chapel Hill has been.

Over the team’s final couple of games, we’ll see how much yards Carter can add before he wraps up his Tar Heel career.
