Where will former UNC Basketball standout Cole Anthony be drafted? He listed a few teams he’s already met with in the predraft process

The 2020 NBA Draft is just a day away as the rumors start to swirl with teams potentially making moves. With the NBA season slated to start in December, it will be a quick turnaround as free agency will begin this Friday. One player to keep an eye out this week is former UNC Basketball standout Cole Anthony.

The point guard will hear his name called in the first round of Wednesday’s draft and his stock right now is sort of all over the place.

Going into his only season at UNC, Anthony was a five-star recruit that was projected to be a lottery pick after just one season. But as the year went on, Anthony’s stock started to slowly drop and now he could be out of the lottery come Wednesay.

Still, Anthony should be a first round pick and could inch his way into the lottery if everything falls in place. Just last year we saw Cameron Johnson as a lottery pick with virtually no one predicting that would happen.

As we sit just over 24 hours from the start of the draft, Anthony has revealed a few teams that he’s met with in the pre-draft process. In a piece for NewsDay, Steve Popper talked to Anthony via Zoom where the point guard broke down his draft stock and the knee surgery that might have hurt it a bit. He also mentioned he’s met with a few teams already:

"Anthony said he has worked out for Miami, Orlando and Washington — the latter two being workouts he thought he aced. He said he never was interviewed by the Knicks or Nets. While he’s not in the mix at No. 8, the Knicks also hold the No. 27 pick. The Nets have the No. 19 pick."

A few interesting teams that were not mentioned were Philadelphia and the New York Knicks, two teams that have been linked to him already in the predraft process. Now, that could just be a smokescreen and a few teams could still be interested in Anthony that were not listed.

Either way, it should be an exciting night for Anthony and it will be interesting to see where he does eventually land.
