Two members of the UNC Football program earned ACC honors despite the loss to Virginia over the weekend

The UNC Football program suffered their second loss of the season as they were upset on Halloween night at Virginia. The loss dropped UNC in the standings and out of the latest AP Top 25 rankings.

While UNC lost the game, their offense still went out and put together a solid performance. They scored 41 points and made things close at the end. That performance on offense was led by quarterback Sam Howell and receiver Dyami Brown, both turning in big games and now they are being recognized for it.

On Monday, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced their award winners for the past week and both Howell and Brown earned honors.

Howell was named the quarterback of the week for the conference after completing 23 of 28 attempts for a career-high 443 passing yards. The quarterback tossed four touchdowns while being very accurate.

After a slow start to the season, Howell finally had the big breakout game that Tar Heels’ fans were hoping for. Now can he keep it going?

While Howell was slinging the football all over the field, Brown was the recipient on 11 of those passes. The 11 receptions for 240 yards were both career highs for Brown as he also caught three touchdowns. Brown was fantastic in this game and the go-to guy in the offense for the Tar Heels.

Even with the two losses, UNC still has a chance to reach the ACC title game. Their path includes Clemson beating Notre Dame and the Tar Heels winning out with both the Fighting Irish and Miami Hurricanes on their schedule still.

But before that, the Tar Heels have to make sure they take care of business this Saturday at Duke.
