Will the UNC Basketball program eventually offer this 2023 in-state recruit that is starting to receive some hype?

As the focus is still on the 2021 and 2022 recruiting classes for the UNC Basketball program, they still have an eye on the 2023 class. Despite it being early in the recruiting cycle for 2023, Roy Williams and his staff are hoping they can eventually land a big class.

The Tar Heels have yet to offer a prospect in the 2023 cycle but they really haven’t had much of a chance to evaluate this past Summer due to restrictions with the COVID-19 pandemic.

But there is a prospect in the 2023 class that is starting to make some noise and he’s in the Tar Heel state.

Class of 2023 point guard Aden Holloway is making quite the impression early on in his recruitment as the Matthews, North Carolina native was among the standouts at the Team Thad Combine tipoff last weekend. Holloway made a quick impression on those in attendance, including 247 Sports writer Travis Branham, who wrote on Holloway earlier in the week:

"The six-foot and 155-pound point guard out of Matthews (N.C.) Covenant Day School displayed a tremendous talent level both as a scorer and playmaker and he told 247Sports that college coaches are already starting to reach out.“So far it’s going pretty good, it’s definitely going in the direction that I want it to go,” Holloway said of his recruitment. “I got a lot of ACC schools looking at me, I got offers from Wake Forest, Syracuse and Virginia Tech and then Winthrop and North Carolina A&T.”"

Holloway has already earned five offers in his recruitment as the hype is starting to pick up for the Covenant Day School standout. Three of those offers are from ACC programs including Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

But with Holloway playing in the state of North Carolina, could the Tar Heels eventually offer the prospect? It certainly seems likely.

Williams and his staff would love to continue to land in-state prospects for his recruiting classes and with Holloway emerging, keep an eye out on the future interest from the Tar Heels.
