The Tar Heel senior running back was named a top 10 performer for Week 6 by USA Today.

Every week, USA Today highlights the top 10 individual performers throughout college football. For the action that occurred this past weekend (Week 6 throughout the sport), the Tar Heels are represented on the list.

Michael Carter was ranked as the No. 2 overall performer this past weekend. The senior running back had a career day, as he rushed for 214 yards on just 17 carries. Carter’s big day was crucial in helping the Tar Heels take home a 56-45 victory over then-19th-ranked Virginia Tech.

The senior tailback is getting a lot of recognition for his mightily impressive performance. Carter was one of our weekly recipients for our ‘Helmet Stickers,’ and was also our Spotlight Player of the Week.

Carter is off to a fantastic start this season. Along with Javonte Williams, the Tar Heels have one of the best one-two running back duos in the entire country. As Mack Brown’s program expects to be serious contenders down the stretch, it’s safe to say that the Tar Heels running game will be crucial to the team’s success down the stretch.
