Trey Morrison

Prior to this season, Trey Morrison was a cornerback for the Tar Heels defense. As a freshman, he started at nickelback, and then started the majority of last season’s contests as a defensive back.

Now as a junior, Morrison has transitioned AGAIN, as he is now a safety for a program. In his first start at the position, the Norcross, GA native made the game’s biggest play.

Late in the fourth quarter, Boston College scored a touchdown to cut the Tar Heels lead to two. In an attempt to tie the game, Boston College elected to go for the two-point conversion.

Phil Jurkovec attempted to roll out and find an open receiver in the end-zone, but Morrison had other ideas. The junior stepped in front of Jurkovec’s pass and returned it 100 yards for two points in the Tar Heels favor (can we call it a “Pick Two” ?!)

Overall, Morrison tallied six tackles and the late-game interception which ended Boston College’s comeback attempt. Morrison was very active throughout, as he made a few big hits and was actively involved in the action on multiple occasions.

Not bad for his first start at the safety position!
