UNC Basketball: Five-star 2021 target set to trim list soon
By Zack Pearson
Will the UNC Basketball program make the cut for this five-star power forward’s final four list he’s set to announce next week?
The UNC Basketball program received some good news earlier in the week with the commitment of four-star shooting guard D’Marco Dunn.
Now, Roy Williams and his staff are hoping that they get more good news next week in terms of another big recruit.
Five-star power forward Caleb Houstan is set to make an update to his recruitment next week and trim his list down to four schools on October 7th per Tipton Edits. As it stands now, Houstan is down to sixteen schools: UNC, Kentucky, Duke, Gonzaga, Oregon, Michigan, Michigan State, Virginia, Seton Hall, Tennessee, Texas, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Alabama, South Carolina, Maryland and Arizona.
It was just a few months ago that Houstan made his decision to reclassify to the 2021 recruiting class from 2022. He’s now ranked No. 8 nationally, the No. 2 power forward and the No. 1 player in the state of Florida per 247 Sports.
It’s tough to tell just where the Tar Heels stand in this recruitment right now but with his list set to trim soon, that won’t be the case. Either way, whether the Tar Heels are in his final four or left off, it wouldn’t shock us at this point as Houstan’s recruitment has been a quiet one.
But if UNC were to somehow pull this off and land a talent like Houstan to add to their class of Dunn and Dontrez Styles, it would be a big recruiting win for Roy Williams.
