One of the UNC basketball program’s biggest recruiting targets is done taking phone calls, and preparing to make his college decision.

Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels remain in pursuit and heavily in the mix for a number of the top prospects in the classes of 2021 and 2022. The same goes for John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats, who happen to be going head-to-head with North Carolina for some of the same recruits.

One of those is Skyy Clark, a 5-star combo guard in the class of 2022 who is still considering a reclassification to 2021. His potential move to the class of 2021 could be the deciding factor in which school he chooses, given that the Wildcats have some uncertainty in their back court, whereas the Tar Heels could have a rather large gathering of talented guards. Then again, if incoming freshman point guard Caleb Love leaves Chapel Hill for the NBA after his freshman season, Clark could slide right into a starting role for the Tar Heels next fall. Memphis and UCLA are still in play, too, but nobody really believes either program has a chance to beat out Kentucky or North Carolina.

One way or another, Clark is getting closer to wrapping up his recruitment; one that’s scheduled to end with an October 22 decision date. Stockrisers’ Jake Weingarten reported on Tuesday night that the 6-foot-3, 200-pound guard has finished taking phone calls from his four finalists, and preparing to make a decision.

Better than 70 percent of Rivals FutureCast votes are for the Tar Heels, and each of those votes was at one point in favor of Kentucky. His 247Sports Crystal Ball, however, favors Kentucky by a tally of four votes to zero. Look for more predictions to come in and/or change over the next few weeks as we inch closer to Clark’s decision.

Clark is ranked 14th in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s third among combo guards in the class, and the No. 2 prospect from the state of Tennessee.
